Fishing Money Making Guide (Wow)

(horde)First get fishing and train it in Orgrimmar to about 70. Then head to the Barrens and enter Wailing Caverns (the instance). Head into a enclosed area with some water around (prefereably the croc place) and start fishing. In a while you should start collecting Deviate Fish (Nightcrawlers or shiny baubbles shouls help), these little buggers can sell up to 20g for 10-20 in the AH depending on the server. To make even more money train in cooking and get it to the same skill level as your fishing(probably 80-90) and head to the lower Barrens and get ready to kill some boarmen because they have a chance of dropping a cooking recipe of Savory Deviate Delights, which after they are made sell even more.

Herbalism Guide 1-300 (World of warcraft)

Herbalism is the art of picking flowers. It is also the art of making cash, which is what we want grin.gif

Herbalism is one of the few professions that will net you money with little effort. All other professions require you spending a lot of materials to level them up, thus you need to do a lot of business to even break even.

It’s highly recommended that you wait until you have a mount before you start leveling herbalism seriously. Up until then just pick whatever flowers you stumble upon. In fact, forget about professions (except skinning) until you hit 55+, since you can’t pick the profitable flowers until then.

The best way to level this profession is by being patient. Get a 5-10 minute route down, ride it, then log for an hour and repeat it.

1-15: Here you will collect Silverleaf and Peacebloom in the newbie zones. Easy.

15-50: Earthroot. alliance head to Dun Morogh, horde to Durotar. Maps: http://thottbot.com/?s=earthroot

50-85: Mageroyal. alliance head to Loch Modan/Westfall, horde head to Barrens/Silverpine. Maps: http://thottbot.com/?i=658

85-150: Stranglekelp. Here you have two options: Wetlands or STV. Personally I prefer Wetlands. For Wetlands swim up and down the coast a bit out. For STV either swim up the west coast from BB to the Zandalar tribe isle or swim up and down the SE coast. Maps: STV: http://thottbot.com/?m=8889 and Wetlands: http://thottbot.com/?m=9239

150-195: Liferoot. Wetlands is the best option for this part. Ride around the western swamp area; from the coast to the road leading to Dun Modr. Interspersed with the liferoot is also Kingsblood, which sells decently on AH due to it being needed for Thorium rep. Maps: http://thottbot.com/?m=9232

195-235: Wintersbite. The only place for this herb is in Alterac Mountains. When coming from the south (either TM or SS), first ride through the yeti area of the mountains, then ride through the ogre stronghold and finally ride through the ogre part of the mountains. Log and wait 30-60 mins, then repeat in reverse order. This part is pretty quickly done. Maps: http://thottbot.com/?m=19247

235-270: Blindweed. I prefer using Swamp of Sorrows for this part, since you can get a nice pattern going easily. Simply circle the central lake, log 30 mins and repeat. Alternatively ride back and forth through the northern part of the swamp. Maps: http://thottbot.com/?m=21505

270-300: Dreamfoil. This is the reason you level herbalism. Dreamfoil is used extensively in all the top alchemy recipes and sells for a pretty penny. .75-1.5G per flower depending on server. There are three main places for this herb: Azshara, Felwood or Un’goro. Try all three places and find the least camped one. Dreamfoil grows in open spaces, so stay away from rocky areas. However, Mountain Silversage (used in health pots), grows in mountains, so find a few spawn points of this herb and ride past them on your rounds.
Of the three Un’goro seems to be the least camped…but again it varies with server. Personally I use Azshara to pick my Dreamfoil and it works quite well.

Maps:
Azshara: http://thottbot.com/?m=70549
Felwood: http://thottbot.com/?m=47575
Un’goro: http://thottbot.com/?m=36626

Other herbs worth picking:

Icecap: Used in flasks and mana pots. Only grows in Winterspring in open areas. Heavily camped. Maps: http://thottbot.com/?m=28935

Mountain Silversage: Used in Mongoose pots and health pots. Grows in mountaneous regions. Un’goro is the spot for this herb. Alternatively Winterspring if you are after Icecap.Maps: Un’Goro: http://thottbot.com/?m=33245 and WS: http://thottbot.com/?m=28933

Plaguebloom: Used in Mongoose pots and various elixirs. Grows in both plaguelands and Felwood. Maps: EPL: http://thottbot.com/?m=14671 and WPL: http://thottbot.com/?m=26432 and Felwood: http://thottbot.com/?m=1011788

Gromsblood: Used in Flask of the Titans. Grows in Desolace, Felwood and Blasted Lands. Maps: http://thottbot.com/?i=5537

And there you have it. Herbalism is very good money with very little actual work. You only have to ride around When you decide to sell your gatherings, check your AH first and undercut a bit. If the bottom drops out of the market, jsut wait a few days and stockpile in the meanwhile, then sell when prices move back up.

1-60 For Groups (Warcraft)

Levels 1-20

I highly advise against grouping with anyone until

you’re well into your teens. At this point of the

game, very few people know how to use their classes

and skills properly and honestly, you’re going to die

a lot because of it. That being said, there are a few

times you will want to group to get chain quests out

of the way, Defense of the Lands in Loch Modan is one

example.

For alliance members, I suggest heading to Loch Modan

or Westfall in the teens, then head to Redridge until

you’re level 20. Yes, if you’re a night elf, you need

to travel far but there are no non-night elves in Teldrassil

or Darkshore and you’re missing out on grouping with

Mages, Warlocks and Paladins.

For the horde, The Barrens are where it’s at. You don’t

need to group much at all here but you can head into

the Wailing Caverns instance for some decent experience.

More than likly, you’ll be level 20 in less than a week.

If you start on a Friday night and play through the entire

weekend you can hit 20 by Sunday if you know what you’re doing.

Grouped with a healer you’ll tear through everything with ease

and no downtime.

Levels 21-40

————

At this point you will have a good grasp of what you can and

can’t do as a Rouge. You will acquire the last of your Rouge

skills and get to try out different combinations. You will also

get to actually see some use from your talents as you’ll be deep

enough into the trees to access some of the stronger talents.

As an alliance you’re looking at Duskwood and the Wetlands for 20

through 30, Stranglethron Vale(STV) for nearly all of your 30′s.

The quests in STV require groups and give some excellent Rouge items.

As horde, you’re more than likely still in the Barrens for a few levels.

Head out to Stontalon Mountains and 1000 Needles for the rest of your 20′s,

IN THAT ORDER. For the 30′s, I also suggest STV through Gromgol as there are

some very nice quests to complete for some good gear.

Near the end of your 30′s, I highly suggest heading to the Scarlet Monastery(SM)

as there is a quest that will give you either a good dagger (Black Menace) or sword

(Blade of Harmony). The Tigerbane also drops here. There’s nothing wrong with simply

doing SM until you hit 40.

Before you hit SM, hit Gnomeregan and get to the end to kill Thermaplugg to complete

the quest to get Triprunner Dungarees. You’ll keep these pants well into your 40′s. You

can also pick up the Toxic Revenger.

I won’t go into super big details for these levels as they are fast to get through, 20-30

will be a week’s worth and 30-40 about the same. Playing 4 hours a night you should easily

get at least 1 level per session if not more. Just do as many quests as you can.

Levels 41-60

————

This is when the Rouge truly stands out. There is a very little difference between horde and

alliance either as they usually each have their own outpost in most zones. I won’t go into

too much detail here because this is the Groups section and you really will be grouped for the end

of the 50′s.

You should head to the Badlands for the early 40′s and knock off Uldaman by level 45. Head

off to Feralas to complete some easy quests then up to Mauradon. Make sure you collect as

many quests as you can for this instance and go through it multiple times. There is some very

good Rouge loot here so kill all named opponents a few times.

After you’ve done your run of Mauradon, head to Tanaris and knock off Zul’Farrak. There are

about 9 quests for this zone alone and you can probably do 7 of them in 1 run that lasts 2 hours.

It’s best done at level 48+ and you will have a great chance to practice your Distract Pulls here.

Later on, you can head to the Sunken Temple to run off a few quests, which is by now an easy instance.

From 50-55 there’s not much going on group wise but you can head to Ungoro Crater and both the East and

the West Plaguelands. From 55 on up, it’s Blackrock Deeps, Black Rock Spire, Strathholme and then Scholomance,

in that order of difficulty.

You will often find groups availble for BRD while in a major city. You will find the best gear in these instances.

From 50 on up, never turn down an opportunity to go and from 55 on make an effort to go.

SOLOING EXPERIENCE LEVELS 1-60

——————————

LEVELS 1-20

———–

Levels 1-10, stay in your home zone. There are tons of quests to do and you are

close to town when you die. Don’t leave until you’re level 10 as there’s simply

an abundance of things to kill up to that poing and grinding is great. At level 10,

go to the main city and the rouge trainer. They will give you a quest to get the Blade of Cunning.

Do this quest now, as the dagger is quite effective. You can also start using different

weapons at this point by training in certain cities. If you have mining or skinning, start it

now. You will see your first gold by level 8 if you do either profession by selling on the

Auction House in Ironforge/Ogrimmar. You can get to level 10 inside 1 day.

From 11-20, it’s pretty much the same thing. Hrode are in the Barrens and Silverpine Forest,

doing quests while the alliance is in Loch Modan and Westfall. Again, the professions can make

a good buck here, so keep at it. Near the end of the 20′s you will be able to do your first instance.

I suggest you do it simply for the chace to get better gear.

There’s always a chance some stuff will drop by doing the instance but odds are the reward for killing

the end boss is what you really want. Getting to 20 can take a few days if you quest a lot. If you simply

grind, you can finish all of this in 2 days.

You can get to level 20 in a weekend if you don’t mess around.

LEVELS 20-30

————

Get your Poison quest done now. alliance, it’s easy to solo. horde, get some friends. Make Instant Poison

and see the difference in your damage output.

alliance, you will be hunting in Redridge Mountains and Duskwood. The undead in Raven Cemetary are quite

good to kill as they are humanoid and easy prey. Can always move on to the Nightbanes (SE corner) in the

later 20′s. Finishing off the Ogres (West of the road to STV) is easy in the high 20′s. All humanoid with

a few casters thrown in. If you’re in Stormwind, do the Stockades a few times. There are half a dozen quests

to kill all the named in there and the experience is really good from 25-29. The instance is so small it will

take about 30 minutes per run.

horde can do Stonetalon on the Goblins and Kobolds. Then move onto 1000 Needles and killing Centaurs. You

can also head to HIllsbrad HIlls (on a non-PVP server. PvP servers, this is a zone you will be killed non-

stop) and kill some Farmers and Gnolls.

Not much instance wise, nor gear wise. I suggest just grinding for 2 levels and going back to town only to

train and dump your items on the Auction House. Also, look for upgrades to your weapons. There’s a fair

ammount of leather gear available at these levels as well.

LEVELS 30-40

————

First, go to the Auction House and buy all the pages to the Green Hills of Stranglethorn quest. Once you have

them all, heave to STV and the Hunter’s Camp to turn it all in for some great experience (10k if memory serves)

and decent enough reward.

STV is really where it’s at for the 30′s. There is just simply an abundance of quests here that all stack and give

good Rouge rewards. The animal mastery series is really good and you can knock off the first 2-3 quests in each

series alone. The bosses at the end require a group but the rewards are well worth it. Head to Booty Bay and get some

more quests there.

Grind-wise, there’s the NE Kurzen Compound that has relatively easy opponents from 30-33. After that, head to Venture Co.

Basecamp and kill goblins. They are casters, so really easy kills if you can catch them before they start casting on you.

They are good from 33-36. After that, head to the middle of the zone and the East side of the road. There are trolls here

to kill that don’t have a damage shield. If you were hunting rolls in the low 30′s, you would notice some are Shamen and

that damage shield would just destroy you. The higher level ones don’t use it for some reason… They can get you to level 40.

They drop Flasks of Mojo that sells well in the Auction House.

In the late 30′s you can head to the Alterac Mountains and kill the Ogres. They have really low hit points and armor and therefore

die with ease. There are a few quests you can knock off in Hillsbrad that bring you here as well. If you’re a skinner, the Yetis are

great. They are humanoids that you can skin.

NOTE: STV has a Rouge trainer, so you don’t have to go back to the main town to train. You might want to leave STV at 35 and come back

near 38. It will make things easier for questing.

Gnomeregan has a very beautiful pear of leather pants for killing Thermaplugg. You’ll be using them until you can get an upgrade in Mauradon.

Doing Scarlet Monastery(SM) and killing the bosses gives you either a good sword or dagger. Hell, just doing SM runs is a good way to get some

new gear as the drops rates are quite high and the areas pretty small. The experience is decent enough buy you’re here maily for the gear.

LEVELS 40-50

————

If there was a ‘Hell Level’ this enitre block would be it. It just seems hard to find any good

gear for this area and it hinders your experience gain. There are a lot of quests you can polish

off here and some easy collection ones as well.

Badlands Have a fair amount of collection quests to do and the Ogres in the SW corner offer good cash.

Also, the first Sturdy Junkboxes will drop here. You can do all of the quests solo except for Tremors

of Earth. Do this quest with at least 3 other people, it gives you the Blazewind Breastplate which will be

your BP until the 50′s. Just doing quests, you can shoot through 42.

Head to Feralas and do a few quests there. There are some gnolls to kill in the South area as well as some

ogres West of that. Get the simple quests done and then head to Tanaris, where the real gains are. Yetis are

decent enough. I would not stay too long though, as mobs wander a lot ehre and you get adds frequently.

Kill the Wastewater Bandits. They have really low hit points for melee types and

occasionally drop water stachels. There’s a quest in Gadgetzan (The main town in

Taris) where 5 of these give ~300xp adn the quest is repeatable. Kill these guys

until you’re 45. They spawn all over the East side of the zone and have chests

that pop with them. There are some ‘Rouge’ bandits that are in stealth but you

should be ok if you pay attention to your combat indicator (Where you level is

indicated, it turns to a X of swords when in combat). Very easy to kill, have a

chance to drop Scorpid patterns, Mageweave out the wazoo! (Great for first-aid

and 1 stack sells for 1g in AH) and decent drops.

Once you hit 45 or 46, head to Hinderlands. You probably have a fair chunk of

quests for this zone anyways. Head to Aerie Peak and start the quests available.

At 45 you should be able to complete every quest here. Make sure you start the

Saving Sharpbeak quest line, as well as the Ancient Egg quest, both requiring

groups to complete. The Saving Sharpbeak quest gives the Gryphon Rider’s Stormhammer

a great weapon to have.

Grinding though, there is no better place in all of the game. From 45 to 50 you head

to the Altar of Zul and kill Soothsayers (10 of them). They are casters with really

low hitpoints and long cast times. They occasionally drop Wildvinem, which you should

keep as it sells for nearly 1gp each. They usually drop Troll Necklaces which when turned

in, in groups of 5 gives 390xp. With 4 empty 12 slot bags, I kept one solely for Troll

Necklaces that stack up to 20. They have a good chance of dropping items as well,

including the rare pop of a named troll. The biggest hurdles here are 3 roaming wolves.

When they attack you, just Vanish. It isn’t worth the time killing them until 49 as they

spawn quickly. In an hour you’ll have memorized the wolves movement pattern and where

the SOothsayers are. You will likely finish levels 45-50 faster than you did 43-44.

Dunemaul Compound in Tanaris isn’t too bad either as the ogres have a better chance of

having Junkboxes on them. They do hit hard however. I qould only consider this if the

trolls are camped.

Ghosts in Azshara are reportedly silver mines and there are a lot of casters. They tend to

be camped by higher levels though.

Instance wise, do Uldaman for the quests once you hit 43. There’s not much item wise and the

creatures spawn so close the experience isn’t too good. Do Zul’Farrak for some decent leather

loots (Scorpashi items). There are about 9 quests that deal with this area, including the

Ancient Egg and Saving Sharpbeak quests. Razorfen Downs are pretty good here too, with decent

gear but it’s a low 40s zone. Mauradon should only be done near the end of the 40s as the bosses

can be really hard and the ‘orange’ side of the zone is deadly to anyone under 50. In fact, if

you can, avoid the ‘orange’ side of the zone completely. It causes a very Large amount of lag,

everything seems to posion you or have a damage shield.

LEVELS 50-60

————

The 50′s are really all about the last push so you can do Blackrock instance runs. You also get the

final super powerful skills. Eviscerate now does at base damage what you were hitting for in criticals

in the 40s.

At 50, head to Ungoro as it has a ton of collection quests availible. It is entirely a beast zone.

However, there is no cash that drops but there is still a chance of items dropping. Doing all the quests

from Marshall’s Refuge (that are non-elite) can get you 2 levels in a day. It really is ridiculous the

amount of experience you can gain from this zone with now effort. Bring a Mithril Casing, you need it

for a certain quest.

The Blasted Lands have 5 quests that stack fro a temporary stat buff to each stat. Personally, the quests

that need stuff from Basilisks and Vultures are not worth the effort as the drops are way too slow. They

are also repeatable for the experience. The ogres are also decent experience and start to drop Heavy

Junkboxes. Level 51-53 is a good spot on these. Again, they can hit hard compared to other humanoids.

Felwood has some good kills at Jaedenar that give fraction to the Timbermaw fraction. At

this point you should have your set weapons until you do high level instances, so put

Demonslay on both. This gives a chance to stun and 100 damage hit on all demons, which

Felwood is full of. With the enchantment it’s incredible the amout of kills you can rack

up. Decent for the lower 50s. Actually some people stay here longer with Demonslay because

the kills become almost trivial, killing non-stop with out the need to heal.

Azshara is also a good area to run through at this point with dual Demonslay weapons.

The West side of the zone has some satyrs to kill which are pretty easy to keep clear,

though they tend to have imp minions. The northern part of the sone has more Satyrs

near level 51 if you find the West Camp Slow.

The mid 50s allow you to move to Winterspring. In the SW corner, there’s a Dwarf lady

who gives a decent cloak for just walking from one end of the zone to the other. The

town also has a fair chunk of quests to complete, which aren’t too bad. The really good

spot though is Lak Kel’Therill. It has more ghosts which are easy kills until about level

58.

The Plaguelands are the final area to hunt in. The West from 52-55 and the East from 55 to

60. They are just full of undead to kill. Mainly though, you’re here for the Argent Dawn

faction, which can only be gained when you’re under level 60. Might as well get it done before

that final level up. If you’re looking for more deomons to kill, the East has a lot of hounds

but that’s pretty much it.

The end of your travels will be in Blackrock Stronghold. Getting the basics of the spawn will

kill you a few times but once you get the hang of it, the experience is golden. Half of it

is casters, which are perfect for killing. you will more than likely hit 60 here.

Instances next. you want to finish everything off in Mauradon before 55. The Trash Blade

(from killing the princess) is an excellent sword, only being beat by a rare world drop

or killing the end boss of Blackrock Spire. Finish up any quests left for the SUnken Temple

as well, there are a few that give some decent rewards. There are quests for this instance all over

the world, so don’t be surprised when you find a new one.

Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire are where you will spend your upper 50s. The drops here are

ridiculously good and require you to have a skilled group. Mess up just a little bit and you wipe.

You will want to finish the 50s so bad that you’re more than likely to just plow through in a week.

Recipe Rage Potion (World of warcraft)

This is my first post, so be nice. I’ve found that the recipe for Rage Potion (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2977) goes for a lot of money on the AH house. Specifically 1 to 2 gold. Considering you buy it for 1 silver I think that’s some pretty good money right there. Where I usually get it is from the Defias merchant on the top floor of the Moonbrook inn. There are a bunch of other level 14 Defias up there, but if you can deal with them pretty easily if you’re higher level than them. I’ve done this 4 times so far, and it usually works, but don’t expect it to always sell. I highly recommend selling it at a minimum of 1 gold, but you can raise the price as much as you want. It seems to be working well lately because of the amount of twinks out there. The trick is to make it seem expensive and rare, and again I don’t guarantee it will sell every time.

A guide describing how to make great gold (World of warcraft)

Hello again, it was long time since i wrote here. I’ve had some family issues aswell as BC coming up. Now when i have my Blood Elf Paladin at lvl 70 i decided to write my second part of the guide ‘How to make gold before level 60′, but i’m now editing it to ‘How to make gold before level 70′.

The Guide

PART TWO: STRATEGY AND METHOD

One very important thing that everyone must think about before they level up their character is how they want it in the end. Ask yourself these questions for example:

Do you want to be exalted with a specific faction when you ding max level?

Do you want to PvP or PvE?

Do i want to grind alot or perhaps quest alot?

These and alot of other questions are very important for how your character will develop. You can of course do all of these things but the problem is that not everyone has time for this because of different real life issues and therefore has to read in a guide like this to solve this problem. Because we all want to be the best of the best, right?

Say that you create an Dwarf Priest, you decide that you want to go exalted with Darnassus so you can get the tiger mount easy later on. Then you will have to move all the way to Terdasill to quest for easy Night Elf reputation. This is an example of how you plan your characters future.

With the release of Burning Crusade many people made misstakes, well, not really misstakes… but they took a path that would be very meaningless.
You probably wonder what they did, and i will tell you.
Once they reached outlands they started questing, and questing means more experience of course but there is one problem. Many of the different instances in outlands is reputation based. With this i mean that you for example need to be revered with one specific instance to go inside it in heroic mode on lvl 70. Now to get revered with a faction most people problably know that you will need quite some amount of reputation.
Let me give you a hint what happened after everyone leveled to 70.

First we take a random character name, lets call him Yuri.
Yuri quested 60-70 and by doing that he was first to ding 70 on the server. Yuri was of course happy but suddenly he noticed that all instances in the game needed revered to be able to enter in heroic mode.
But Yuri had already done all quests for that faction and by this Yuri was only honored. Now Yuri had to farm instances for 1 week to open the instance and alot of people passed him because of better strategy.

The second player, Sayic, decided to do instances to level 70 with some grinding involved. When he dinged 70 he had only done some non faction binded quests aswell as lots of instances. He had awsome gear and was honored with all the factions. What did he need?
Well as said before he needed revered. But because Sayic had saved all his quests for the faction he managed to do all the quest for the faction very easy because he was so high level and therefore gained revered in one afternoon.

If you now analyse these two different players stratergies, wich one of them was the best?

In my opinion the lazy one with instance grinding to 70.
Remember that a smart player is a lazy player.

Now there are different methods of leveling through the game, and they all differ in difficulties.
The main leveling methods are Questing and Grinding. And then you can of course do these in different ways like AoE grinding or Single mob grinding.

The fastest way for a beginner aswell as a professional would probably be questing. Remember that if you want low /played time like Joana or any other powergamer. PLAY AS THEY DO!

Think like this when you are online:

Am i totaly ready to level?
Am i sure i wont go do something else?

Speed is the key… and if you start to do other things like ALT+TAB out and look on webpages , you might aswell just logout.

————————————————————————————

Now remember, the key to fortune is to learn the AH. And it is actually not very hard to understand it, actually it is very much like our own stock market. If demands go up the prices follow, if they go down so does the prices.

So now you probably want to put up some strategy for your item selling. You want to sell the item, think like the buyer.
Would i pay this much money for this item?
If you answer yes then put it up on AH for that price.
Remember it is not bad to undercut other people’s items, it will just raise your chance of getting your item sold witch will enable you to earn more money.

————————————————————————————–

Now do you remember what i said about instance grinding in BC, just think about all the gold you will get from the quests you saved, because you will get money instead of the experience you were suppose to get for the quest. If you just do this to level 70 and then do the quests you are guarranted an epic flying mount.

——————————

Now for some final info for you guys who still havent farmed enough gold for your epic flying mount.

There are 2 really good grinding areas,
The first one is in Nagrand on the ogres, these drop alot of money, netherweave and also give rep!!!
And the other one (wich is in my opinion the best) are the water creatures around Terokkar Forest, these drop insainely amount of good loot.

/// Good luck with the questing and instancing in BC

Kind Regards
Marvid

Guide to using Stealth to solo Mother Smolderweb (World of warcraft)

There are essentially two parts to soloing Mother Smolderweb… getting to her, and killing her. Neither are easy if you don’t know how, hence this guide 8-), so I’ll be covering both in fair detail.

Rather than miss out something important, I’ll be assuming that you’ve never used Stealth before and need to know everything. Sorry if any of it seems condescending.

I should point out here that I’m not in an Uber Raiding Guild, I run a small friendly guild, and so this guide should be usable by everyone, even the little folk like me!

I did this with no points in Improved Prowl, although I do have Innervate which saved me a fortune in mana potions 8-) The only other talent points I have which have any real effect is two points in Improved Starfire, as the chance of stunning her and so getting a free shot is nice, but not at all vital, and Nature’s Swiftness, which can be handy for repositioning her.

Other things that would be helpful to bring along:-

Major Health Potions and Major Mana Potions. While it’s easy enough to do her without either of these, there’s nothing like being well prepared to increase your chances. Running out of either HPs or Mana is pretty much a game over situation! If you don’t have Innervate, then Major Mana Potions are absolutely vital, it’s possible to do her without Innervating or potioning if you’re very patient but it’s much much more risky, and why take the chance of dying when she’s on 5%? 8-)

Heavy Runecloth Bandages. Again, you don’t absolutely have to bring these, but they’ll save you mana, which makes things easier, and First Aid is so easy to max out why not do it? 8-) The reason I say bring Heavy Runecloth rather then the lower ones is for speed, the faster you can heal up the better, as you’ll see later.

Ok, so you have your supplies, and you’re all ready to go, so where is she?

She’s inside Blackrock Spire, an instance inside Blackrock Mountain, which straddles the border between Burning Steppes and Searing Gorge. Blackrock Spire has two halves, Lower Blackrock Spire (LBRS) which is where you start when you zone in, and Upper Blackrock Spire (UBRS), which is accessed from inside LBRS using a quested key. Luckily she’s in LBRS, so you don’t need the key. She’s about half way through the zone, so it takes a little work to get to her.

If you die (and you most likely will), you appear at the Graveyard at Thorium Point in Searing Gorge. It’s a simple trip to the South West of the zone to get back.

Once inside Blackrock Mountain, there are no mobs until you get close to the instance entrances, so it’s safe to move around a bit. There are two instances inside the Mountain, BRS and BRD (Blackrock Depths).

If you travel around the ring in Blackrock Mountain, you will find a meeting stone for Blackrock Spire, and a tunnel leading to it. DO NOT GO IN HERE! It leads past lots of Orcs, and while it’s possible, even easy, to Stealth past them, there’s no need, as there’s a cunning shortcut you can take!

If you go to the northern (and highest) point on the ring inside Blackrock Mountain, there’s a chain leading down to the floating island in the middle, and a rock ramp on the west side of it allowing you to climb onto it. Go up onto the chain, and then go left and up the chain, and drop off the end onto a shelf. It’s very dark at this point, so you might need to turn your gamma or brightness up. Follow the shelf round to the right and up, and you’ll see a balcony ahead of you. There’s a gap just before the balcony, so you need to jump the last few feet. Once on the balcony, look into the room and you’ll see the instance entrance to BRS. There’s also a door to the right, don’t go through there as there are Elite Orcs.

This would be a good time to cover the basics of Stealth.

Stealth in wow is quite different to Invisibility in other games such as EQ, in that it’s not ‘Stealth up and nothing will see you’, but an agro-range reducer. Get close enough to something and it WILL see you and attack. There are also mobs with Detect Stealth, who see you at an even wider radius.

How close you can get to a mob without being seen is determined by how much higher or lower level than you the mob is. For mobs lower than you your agro radius is very small, about the same size you are in fact, so unless you walk right into the mob you’re usually ok. However, the higher above you the mob is, the further away it’ll spot you from.

As if that wasn’t enough, there are actually two agro ranges when Stealthed… the ‘I seeeeee youuuuu!’ one mentioned above, when the mob just comes along and splats you, and the ‘Did you hear something?’ one, where you attract the mob’s attention, but don’t actually agro it yet… yet being the operative word here! 8-)

If you get close enough to trigger the ‘Did you hear something?’ reaction, the mob will turn to face you (and if it’s a roamer, stop walking and stare at you). While this is very scary when it happens, as long as you don’t move the mob will eventually shrug it off as the wind or something, and turn back to what it’s doing, allowing you to carry on.

Those two agro ranges are VERY important here, and I’ll be referring to them a lot.

Zone into BRS, and you’re at the bottom of a ramp. This is a safe spot, so once you’re in you can Stealth up quite safely.

The entrance ramp to BRS
IPB Image

At this point, you might want to take off all your equipment and stash it in your backpack, as you will most likely die several times getting it right, and most likely a couple of times just through bad luck. You have to be *very* patient for this. If you do get spotted, all the gear in the world won’t save you, so you might as well save on repair costs 8-)

Head up the ramp, and there’s a room with various Orcs around the edges. They won’t react to you at all as long as you stay in the centre of the room, however the one at the end will wander from side to side as it gets chunks of the roast pig and goes back to the table to eat it, so you have to be careful of that one. Also, there’s a patrol of two that circle the area and cut across the end of this room, again mind them.

First room, with Roamer and Patrol marked.
IPB Image

Across the room there are ramps leading up at either side, and a big ramp down across the centre. You want to head down the ramp, hugging the right-hand wall. There are two doorways in that wall, you want to take the second one. You will get *very* close to an Orc as you go, but it doesn’t react, so hug the wall and you’ll be fine.

IPB Image

Once through the doorway, you’re in a short passage that leads to quite and open area. Two Orcs patrol into this passage, and they both react, so be very careful here.

Passage, showing Orc patrol
IPB Image

You want to wait ’til the patrol leaves, and then move down the passage and a little to the right. At this point, wait for the patrol to come back, and when they go past you up the passage you just came from, head off down the ramp and through the doorway on your left. This saves you having to hide from the patrol in the tunnel, which is possible but riskier.

Wait point and doorway to passage
IPB Image

Once into the passage, follow it through and you come out in a large chamber. At this point, turn sharp right and move away from the door so the patrol don’t spot you when they come back.

This is the view you’ll see after turning right in the chamber.
IPB Image

You can safely ignore the Ogres, they’re actually on the other side of a chasm. You, however, are going into that chasm! It’s a handy shortcut that saves a lot of work. Move forward until you’re on the wall, and you’ll see two rock platforms below you.

Rock platforms
IPB Image

Jump down onto the first, walk to the end, and down onto the second. You then need to head down the second to the left-hand side corner. Looking down, you’ll see a lava river, a metal edging, and a stone path. You want to jump off and land on the metal edging.

IPB Image

Ok, so far it’s all been easy, now’s when it gets tough…

If you turn to look down the corridor, you’ll see it is *packed* with Orcs, with only a very small leeway in between. To make this even harder, there is a single-Orc patrol that comes down it, and a Roamer half way down who wanders from side to side and stands in the middle.

View down corridor, showing Roamer
IPB Image

From this point on, you need to have a very steady hand, be very patient, and most importantly of all be in third-person view. Personally I like to play in first-person, however this section is quite simply not possible that way, you have to be able to see all around you.

Timing is important here. The first thing you have to do is wait for the Patrol to come down the corridor towards you. It might stop and stare at you, however as long as you’re standing on the metal edging facing down the centre of the hallway you’ll be out of attack range, so just be patient and let it wander off again.

Now, once it’s gone it’s time to set off. If you’re lucky, the Roamer shown in the last picture will have wandered onto the right hand side and be easier to pass, however it doesn’t stay there long, and is your biggest obstacle for this section.

With the Patrol past you, start off down the centre of the corridor, slowly. Remember what I said earlier on about the ‘Did you hear something?’ reaction, well you’re going to see a lot of it now. Every time a mob looks your way, stop and don’t move again until it turns away. You have some time until the Patrol comes back, so you can afford to be careful, however don’t over do it 8-)

Moving down the corridor, and an Orc reacting.
IPB Image

Having made it past the first lot, the corridor continues round to the left. Although the Orcs are more spread out here, they still react and you have to still be careful.

Heading round to the left.
IPB Image

You’re heading to the far wall, and ultimately towards the group containing the sitting mob you can see top centre of the last picture.

View from the far wall
IPB Image

This part is the bit that requires the most patience, as (at level 56 certainly) you have *barely* enough room to squeeze through these mobs, and most of them react. You need to cross to the left hand half of the passage, and squeeze diagonally through the mobs as show in the next picture. The mob with his back to me in the picture doesn’t react, however the other four all do, so you have to take this literally a step at a time. When you’re certain that none of the mobs are looking at you, take one step forward and stop, then wait until you’re certain you’re clear again and take one more step, then stop again. Keep doing this until you get onto the ramp, at which point you’re clear of the Orcs.

Path through the Orcs
IPB Image

Congratulations, you are now past all the Orcs… now it’s time for Spiders!

View up the ramp, showing the Spiders
IPB Image

To get past these, you need to hug the left-hand wall up to just below a couple of boulders, as show here, and then wait.

Boulders and wait spot
IPB Image

There are three spiders you need to keep your eye on here, the little one to the right of the boulder, the little one behind the boulder, and the big one just past them. Eventually all three of them will wander away from the left hand wall, at which point you head up. You need to watch yourself here, there’s an overhang you can see in the previous picture that you can get stuck under.

Once past those three spiders, carry on up into the top left corner. Turn right, and follow the wall past Mother Smolderweb. Keep going all the way to the far side.

Sneaking past Mother Smolderweb
IPB Image

As well as Mother Smolderweb herself, there is one other spider you need to be aware of, a roamer that wanders up and down the girders.

IPB Image

Mother Smolderweb moves around a little bit, and if she’s at the girders end of her path as shown below then it’s vital that you wait for the roamer to leave before pulling her, otherwise you’ll agro that too, and that’ll agro all the others nearby, and then it’s game over.

IPB Image

The safer path is just to wait for her to move back up to the wall end of her path…

IPB Image

Make sure you’re standing right up against the far wall before pulling her

IPB Image

This is as far up as she goes, so once she’s here and stopped, it’s time to start the madness 8-)

BTW, if you took all your gear off before starting the Stealth in, now is the time to put them back on again!

IPB Image

So, Part 1 of the guide, Getting To Mother Smolderweb is over… now for Part 2, Killing Mother Smolderweb!

It’s actually a very simple process, in theory, it just takes time. In practice however, there are lots of things you need to know and obviously things that can go wrong. It is fairly unlikely that you’ll kill her first time, in fact I died several times before I worked all this out, and even having it all written down for you is no substitute for practice. So, don’t be disheartened, just keep plugging away, those boots are worth it in the end! 8-)

So, things you need to know before you start…

Firstly, and very importantly, is DO NOT have Thorns up! If you have Thorns on, click it off right now, as it *will* get you killed. We’re going to be using Hibernate to keep her asleep, and if she hits you with Thorns up it’s quite common for the damage from Thorns to land after Hibernate does, and it’ll wake her right back up again. This is A Bad Thing! 8-)

Secondly, and equally importantly, is that you need to have Abolish Poison hotkeyed. You will need this a lot! She procs a poison called Mother’s Milk, which has the very nasty effect of making you cast an AoE web explosion, which has the two very nasty effects of glueing you to the floor and interrupting casting. It is therefore essential that you get rid of it as soon as she’s back asleep. It takes a few seconds before it goes off, so you have time. If left uncleared, it will keep going off every few seconds.

The third thing is something you probably all know, but as I said at the start I’m going to cover everything just in case… You can cast buffs, heals and cures on yourself (or anyone) without changing your target away from the mob. This is very important here as you cannot afford the delay in re-targetting her if Hibernate breaks at a bad time, and it will! So, keep Mother Smolderweb targetted at all times, and if you need to cure the poison or heal yourself or Innervate, then do it like this: Press the spell hotkey (or click the icon, but that’s slower) and then press F1 (or click your portrait, again slower). If you do it in that order you will keep Mother Smolderweb targetted, but cure or heal yourself. The same is true if you need to bandage up, press the Bandage key then F1, and you’ll bandage without losing her as your target.

Fourth (yup, LOTS you need to know! 8-) ) is that as well as Mother’s Milk, she can also proc Crystalize, which is a 5-second stun that interrupts casting. Not nice! However, the good news is that it only lasts until she next hits you, so the moment you’re under attack you’re free again. This is basically the worse situation you’ll find yourself in (if you do everything right, anyway 8-) ), and it’s important not to panic 8-)

Finally for the pre-start info, the key here is keeping her asleep with Hibernate. That is the #1, #2 and #3 priority! It is not as easy as keeping a bog-standard mob under either, she will frequently break it early. When she does this you *must* immediately stop anything else you’re doing, even if you’re half way through a cast, and put her back under. You have to keep out of her melee as much as possible, or you’re toast!

Ok, so by now you have your supplies, you’re in position, and you know the drill… time to get our Spider on!

I hope you went to the toilet first btw, you’ll be here for a while now! 8-)

As I said before, the tactics for the fight are very very simple… all we do is slowly wear her down with Starfire, and keep her under control with Hibernate. Other than all the points above, that’s pretty much it! 8-)

Standing in the corner as shown above, with Mother Smolderweb properly positioned and no sign of the roamer, drop a Starfire on her head, and the instant it finishes casting cast Hibernate on her too. Don’t wait for her to move or get near you or anything, cast Hibernate the instant Starfire lands, even if it’s resisted. Hibernate takes 1.5 seconds to cast, and you’re trapped in a very small area with a very angry Spider, you do not have a lot of room to play with here 8-)

During those 1.5 seconds you were casting Hibernate, she’ll have moved towards you. For this first pull she might not have got very far, or she might have got all the way up to you. If she’s barely moved, stay where you are and do another Starfire and Hibernate, and this time she’ll stop very close to you (which is exactly what you want).

Now that you’re staring terrified into her dripping mandibles, it’s time to move. This is the key to the entire thing, keep moving and out of her range. You have *very* little room to work with here, there are spiders all around you, so it’s vital to know how far you can safely go. The corner you started in is obvious, after that it’s less so, so here’s a nice picture of exactly where you should now be standing…

IPB Image

And this is the view you should have…

IPB Image

You now simply repeat this process over and over again… Starfire and Hibernate, move to the other side, and Starfire and Hibernate again… Remembering all the time that if she breaks Hibernate early, stop anything else you’re doing (usually casting Starfire) and immediately re-Hibernate, and move out of her way.

As you can see from this picture, it takes a long time… I refreshed Mark of the Wild before I started, and so far 9 minutes have passed. You can also see from this picture that I have by now used Innervate. You will see in all the subsequent pictures that I keep my mouse over the Innervate icon, so that I can always see the countdown until I can use it again… that countdown is your lifeline, if you run out of mana before it’s hit zero, you’re dead! What you *must* do therefore is conserve mana as much as possible, and the easiest way to do that is to wait a few seconds after getting into position before casting Starfire / Hibernate again. Let the mana build back up a little bit, and then start again. Don’t give it too long though, as I said she does like to wake up early!

IPB Image

A few more pictures of the fight, to give you a rough idea how long it takes… keep an eye on the Mark of the Wild timer…

IPB Image

IPB Image

IPB Image

IPB Image

As you can see in that last picture above, I took a lot of damage, I got stunned and then she resisted Hibernate… this will happen a few times every fight, more until you get the hang of it. The key here is to not panic, keep working on Hibernate, and only once you’ve got her under should you worry about healing up. Unless of course she gets you dangerously low, in which case click a Health potion and go back to trying to Hibernate her.

Once I had her back under, I moved to the new position and bandaged myself, all the time keeping her targetted and one finger on the Hibernate button… even if you’re bandaging you have to stop it to re-Hibernate her the instant she wakes up.

Occasionally you will get into the unfortunate position of having her stop right in the middle of the area, so that no matter where you stand she will get to you in the 1.5 seconds Hibernate will take to cast. This is obviously a problem as it greatly increases the chances of you getting stunned, poisoned and beaten to death. However, there is a very handy little trick you can do in these circumstances to re-position her…

If you took the Nature’s Swiftness talent, you now have a nice little trick up your sleeve! As you know, it makes the next Nature spell you cast into an instant cast spell. Everyone knows that’s heals and the Wrath nuke, but what a lot of people don’t realise is that Hibernate is also a Nature spell, and so is affected by Nature’s Swiftness. Starfire, however, is an Arcane spell, and thus unaffected.

So, the trick for getting out of a ‘she’s gonna get me!’ situation and back into the ‘Ahhh, she’s miles away’ place you want is simple… cast Nature’s Swiftness on yourself first, BEFORE casting Starfire. Then cast Starfire on her as normal. As it’s an Arcane spell Nature’s Swiftness will still be up. Then pause for half a second or so, just until she starts moving, and then hit her with the now instant-casting Hibernate. Provided she doesn’t resist it (always a possibility), you now have her nicely dozing away near to you without ever having got close enough to hit you, and it’s back to the cycle.

If you don’t have Nature’s Swiftness, or you already used it and the timer’s still counting down, then the best thing to do in this situation is to cast Rejuvenate on yourself just before casting Starfire, so that when she does get to you you still have a few seconds of high regen left to soak up some of the damage.

After about 15 minutes, you should have her pretty low…

IPB Image

Not quite low enough though… remember how many HPs she has, and how relatively little Starfire does. Where you actually want her to be now is this low…

IPB Image

At this point, there’s a good chance that your next Starfire will kill her. That’s obviously a good thing, but it does also have a downside… when she dies, a horde of little spiders will spawn from her corpse, and they will kill you. Oh, did I forget to mention that at the start? Yup, you’re on a suicide mission, there’s no way you’re coming back from this alive, sorry!

The good news is that the little spiders have a tiny agro range, and if you’ve done everything right then when she dies you’ll be far enough from them for them to not instantly agro you… however, we’ve not taken any chances this far, so why risk it eh? 8-)

When you get to the point that you’re pretty sure your next Starfire will kill her, cast Rejuvenation on yourself before casting Starfire, and as well as the finger over Hibernate also keep a finger over Dire Bear form.

If when you cast Starfire she doesn’t die (even if you’re certain the damage will be enough, she could resist it) re-cast Hibernate, then re-cast Rejuvenate and start again.

When she does die, however, immediately cast Dire Bear form. You can loot as a Bear, and have the advantage of more HPs and Armour, giving you longer to do so.

IPB Image

All that remains now is to run in and loot the corpse. The little spiders will attack the moment you get near her, so you have to be fast. If they haven’t attacked yet and you have enough mana left, you can de-Bear and stack Regrowth and Rejuvenate on yourself, then re-bear and go in, to give yourself the maximum looting time, however even with no regen Dire Bear will give you enough, so it’s up to you.

Remember that the boots are Bind On Pickup, so as well as clicking on them you will also have to click the Yes button to grab them, so be prepared, and even though it might sound amazingly obvious, if she does drop them click them first! 8-)

IPB Image

As you can see, she didn’t drop them for me on this run, or any of the dozen or so previous runs, or the half dozen group or raid runs at her I’ve done too… basically, she hates me! 8-( Still, my revenge upon her is that now hopefully lots more people will kill her too, muhahahaha!

*cough*

Now that you’re dead, you can run all the way back to BRS and zone in again to res yourself, and then gate home muttering to yourself about how that Spider’s going to get hers one day, and prepare for another run tomorrow! The good news is that at least she’ll drop a Green item if you don’t get the boots, which will easily cover your repair costs from the death at the end.

Never res at the Spirit Healer at Thorium Point, it takes 2 minutes to get back to BRS to res normally, and it’s perfectly safe to do, so why waste cash on more durability loss 8-)

Well, that’s it for this guide, I hope you enjoyed it, and that you’ll offer up a quick plea on my behalf while you’re strutting round in your new boots that one day I’ll get mine!

Dianius, 60 Night Elf Druid, Teranas (Euro)

Well, it turns out that perseverance pays off, and on my 20th solo kill of her she decided to be nice to me 8-)

Horde Leveling 1-60 (Warcraft)

horde leveling 1-60

This will be the horde section of my leveling guides, and like the alliance one, it assumes that you are on a PvP server. If you are not on a PvP server, feel free to use both guides to your advantage, though I still would suggest these places because they are more advantageous to that race just because of the cities etc.

The horde has four races: Undead, Troll, Tauren, and Orc. Three of them start on the horde or western continent, and the other, Undead, starts in the Eastern Kingdoms, nears the north. Both of these places have leveling for all classes, though I will recommend traveling to quite a few places. Like the other guide, I recommend going through all instances one can at their particular level, as they provide nice loot to help in solo leveling.

Level 1-10

Like alliance, level 1-10 is a solo experience for all of the classes, with basically a quest-based leveling that turns out to be very fast. All that is really necessary is to stay in the newbie section of the zone and branch out when quests are complete. I will be going race by race through the guide, though after level 30 I will go by zone, because by that time it will be easy to travel throughout the world, and all races can go through all zones.

Undead

Undead start in Tirisfall Glades, which has good leveling till at least 10, and can be pushed to 11. You can get quests right in the Cathedral where you start, and upon reaching level 6, one can travel just a little to the east to Brill for more quests. They are all in the vicinity, though a few will ask you to go to Silverpine Forest (this is for level 10-12, so keep them). There is no threats really, just stay away from the far northeast of the zone, as there are level 40 elite mobs there.

Tauren

The Taurens’ home is Mulgore, where players will start in the southern part of the zone. The town there has a few quest chains to get you started, but once you find you are out, head a little to the north to Bloodhoof Village, which houses more quests. Upon level 8-9, one should make a trip to Thunder Bluff for more quests as well as trainers and equipment.

Trolls

Sen’Jin Village is the home of the Trolls, located in Durotar. It is in the very south of the zone, and should be a good place to go through level 10. Once you get higher up, you can head to Razor Hill, which has more quests, and then further up to Orgrimmar.

Orcs

Orcs also start in Durotar, but in Razor Hill. You can complete the same quests as the Trolls, and then head to Sen’Jin for more.

All Classes

It shouldn’t take more than a few hours to reach level 10, most of the quests are easy and require killing monsters which give exp. You can get items that you need for killing harder monsters. Once you reach level 10 or 11, the options are pretty tight, but still make easy leveling.

Level 10-20

These levels take a more straightforeward approach, especially when one is playing horde. The classes are a lot more centralized, giving more opportunities for leveling together with other horde members and being a little safer if on a PvP server.

I reccomend that all races take a trip to Ogrimmar, and go through the instance Ragefire Chasm. It has good loot and is quick exp, especially with some quests that you can get right outside of it, as well as in the Barrens.

Troll, Orc and Tauren

Level 10-16/18 for these three classes is in one zone, which is gigantic. The Barrens is home to two outposts, many many quests, and three Instances. Technically there is a way to level from 10-22+ here, but it is probably easier to split it up from 10-18/20 and then come back at higher levels for two of the instances. You will want to run from Orgrimmar or Mulgore to the Barrens which is only one zone away from each of the newbie zones. You will want to make your way to the middle of the zone, where you will find The Crossroads. This place is full of quests that require you to travel around the zone and kill many different places. You will also want to take a trip to Rachet when you are around level 13 or 14, as there a quests for The Wailing Caverns, a great instance for level 15-18.

Furthermore, once you get to level 16-18, you can go south to Camp Taurajo, which is right near the Mulgore zone. There are higher level quests there if you want to keep leveling in the Barrens.

If you want somewhere new to go, around level 18 or 19, you can head to Stonetalon Mountains, which is a good place to level for the upcoming grind.

Undead

Personally, I would reccomend that Undead players take the same path as the other three classes, and take the Zepplin outside the Undercity to Durotar and go to Orgrimmar. Even so, Silverpine Forest serves as a good place to go for level 12-13, as there are some quick and easy slaughter quests. I would also reccomend that undead head to Ragefire Chasm and run the instance inside Orgrimmar.

Level 20-30

Leveling starts to slow down a bit, but there are plenty of zones and choices at this point. I would assume that by now all people are in the Barrens/Stonetalon Mountains, and start by heading to Sunrock Retreat in the middle of Stonetalon Mountains. You can quest there which will lead you to the goblins and humans of the digging company to the east, the Nightelf and Centaurs to the north, and to the Harpys to the west. This should be sufficient leveling to 25 or so, but there is a second option.

You can travel north of the Barrens to Ashenvale. There is a town to the north-northeast part of the zone, a good housing to quests. You can come here before Stonetalon, but I would suggest being at least level 25, as even though there will be a few green quests, the majority of them will be your level.

Furthermore, there is a level 28-31 instance in Ashenvale, Blackfathom Depths. There is some nice loot, and a run or two wouldn’t be a bad idea. If this doesn’t suit you, there is a second instance you can run at the very south part of the barrens, Razorfen Downs. You can check loot tables for the instances here, which is a great place to find out where you want to run to get better equipment.

Level 30-40

You may be a little above level 30, but it should be time to move on to new zones with new quests and instances. I am going to list zones and some good places to go (mostly where the quests are) instead of going by race, as everything is easily acessable with a little bit of travel.

First of all, since we are already out west, it would probably be best to travel to Desolace, which is south of Stonetalon Mountains. There are many opportunities there for questing, which can boost you up from 30-35 pretty quickly. You can head down to the southwest shoreline to find Shadowprey Village, but if you come here at 30, you will probably want to find the encampment in the Kodo Graveyard, on the eastern side. There you can do quests that relate to all of the centaur tribes, and get a great deal of grinding experience. Once you get up to 33 or so, I would reccomend Shadowprey’s quests. There arn’t any large chains, but you can get a level or two from all of them.

Another option, which is also highly reccomended is Hillsbrad Foothills. On PvP servers this zone can be a huge zone for ganking and PvP, but it also holds a great deal of quests to get players through 5-10 levels easily. If you come at 30, there may be one or two green quests, but they are all quest chains and will lead to elite quests for good exp and rewards. I reccomend going here first and doing the quest as much as possible, then heading to other zones such as Arathi Highlands and Stranglethron Vale.

As mentioned above Arathi Highlands is a great place to level after Hillsbrad. You will recieve one quest for this zone in Hillsbrad, and then you will be asked to turn in the quest to somebody from Hammerfall, located in the northeast section of the zone. Here there will be many quest chains, a lot of slaughter quests for fast exp, and not that many opposing alliance. In the middle of the zone there is an alliance city, so stay away from that part as the guards are level 42.

If you have gone in the order said above, you should be well on your way to 36 or 37 if you only did quests and then left the above zones. I would head to Straglethorn Vale. The easiest way to get there is to take the Zepplin from either Tirisfal or Durotar, and you will end up right in the beginning town, Grom’Gol Base Camp. There are plenty of quests that involve killing in the north and around the base camp, a pretty safe area in general. As you get a little higher in levels, you will have to advance further south, and eventually you can run all the way south to Booty Bay, which is a Goblin Town. There are a lot of options questwise there, and this should eaisly get you to 40. Even though there are a multitude of zones, there are a few other reccomendations.

Instances

There are a few instances you can travel to between 30 and 40, all of which hold some nice loot for all classes. I would definatly, as said in the alliance Guide, suggest that all levelers go to Scarlet Monestary , there are great loot and exp opporunities. Even so, I’ve found that Razorfen Downs in The Barrens, as well as Uldaman in the Badlands are host to great loot and quests as well. Although you have to travel around to find the quests, consult the links to find out who to talk to for the quests. If you get sick of the solo thing, definatly check out these instances.

Level 40-50

Level 40-50 slims down a bit from 30-40 in places to go, but there are still many quests to go. I would suggest finish up Stranglethorn Vale if you havn’t already done so, and then taking a trip back to the Western side of the world.

Feralas is a good place to level at 40, with mobs starting at 38 and rising all the way to 48 or 50. You can stay there for quite some time, with access coming from Thousand Needles. You can find the encampment in the middle of the zone, just keep following the path.

The other place I suggest is also next to Thousand Needles, but is to the south, not west. If you follow the Shimmering Flats in Thousand Needles you will come to Tanaris. Right when you arrive there you will be next to Gadgetzan, the main base for the zone. It is another goblin city, your main place for quests etc. You will want to complete those quests, and upon hitting 44 or 45, start forming Zul’Farruk groups. It is an instance in the northwest of the zone, and like usual, houses great exp and loot, along with some quests. These two zones alone should take you to level 48 or 49, though if you want another zone, there is a good alternative, although more alliance based.

Traveling back to Hillsbrad Foothills, if you go to the northeast, you can find The Hinterlands. This zone has a lot of alliance, and the town is a little hard to get too, so I would suggest not going until level 48 or 49. There are tons of quests for horde at the town, which is located in the very southeast of the zone, below the cliffs. There is a ramp to get down, as jumping will result in death. You may want to find a partner, just in case there are alliance around, because this seems to be one of their prime leveling spots for the high 40′s.

Level 50-60

These levels are more grinding instances and soloing, but there are quite a few zones you can visit. If you are already in Tanaris, head to the southwest and take the ramp down to Un’Goro Crater . If you head to the central-north part of the zone, there is a town with quest givers. If you happen to be 55+, you could head further west to Silithis, but you may need to go to a few other zones until you hit 55 or higher. I reccomend Silithis for level 55+, as a lot of the new quests give 6k+ exp and really good exp, they are level 59-60, and not really strong.

Furthermore, you can travel north in the western continents to the three adjacent zones Azshara, Felwood, and Winterspring. All host 50-55+ quests and plenty of them. With these five zones there should be no problem to leveling.

Furthermore, instancing at 55-60 is amazing, and can even be done at 52. From 52-55, I reccomend Atal’Hakkar. When you get 55+, you can do either Scholomance Stratholme Dire Maul or my personal favorite Blackrock Depths. The last 10 levels have a lot of possibilities even though they can be slow at times, just keep going and try to get groups in Orgrimmar for the instances, or you can solo in any of those zones, or even the Plaguelands.

First aid guide (Wow)

Ahh, first Aid! One of the most least understood professions in the game….yet one of the most useful! In this guide I’ll be going through the various aspects of first aid, it’s uses and pretty much anything else you could possibly desire.

So enough with the smalltalk, let’s get started:

First Aid Overview
First Aid is a secondary profession which allows you to create ‘bandages’ out of the various pieces of cloth which drop off of humanoids around the world of wow (you can see the full list from the trainers in the game, just turn of the ‘unavailable’ filter when viewing the training list). First aid differs from eating food primarily because you can apply first aid during combat on yourself or others, and there is no need to sit. You also gain health at a much quicker rate than eating food.

First Aid Ranks

Apprentice (1 – max 75)
The apprentice rank can be trained in any major city. Just speak to a local guard and ask them where you can find the local first aid trainer.

Journeyman (50 – max 150 skill)
Like the apprentice rank, you can train up to the journeyman skill in any city, just speak to a local guard and find out where the local physician is located.

Expert (125 – max 225 skill)
To become an ‘expert’ first aid toon, you’ll need to purchase a book for 60 silver. The individual vendors for alliance/horde are listed below.

alliance: Deneb Walker, located in the Arathi Highlands….just inside Stormgarde keep.
Here’s a map of Ms. Walker’s location on thottbot.
http://www.thottbot.com/?m=10618

horde: Balai Lok’Wein, located in Brackenwall Vil
lage in Dustwallow Marsh.
Here’s a map of Balai’s location on thottbot.

http://www.thottbot.com/?m=93812

Artisan (225 – max 300 skill)

Requires Player Level 40
Once you’ve maxed out your Expert skill level in first aid, you come to one of the more entertaining quests in the game, the Triage! The triage requires you to ‘save’ 15 injured warriors/soldiers in a small physician’s room loaded with casualties…….BEFORE 6 of them die. There are 3 types of soldiers, critically injured, badly injured and injured. The critically injured die rather quickly so bandage them first, same goes for the badly injured.

A few more tips on this quest:
- Position yourself in the MIDDLE of the room.
- Adjust your camera until you can see a part of ALL the beds containing the injured. This allows for quick targeting.
- Once you receive your ‘triage bandages’ throw them in a hotbar slot (#1 is easiest). This will let you speedily heal the injured and not have to fumble around in your backpack.

So now that I’ve told you all you need to know to SUCCEED in this quest, you’re probably wondering where the hell you get it! Here’s how you can obtain the triage quest.

alliance:
First, you’ll need to speak to Nissa Firestone in Ironforge, she’ll then direct you to speak to Doctor VanHowzen in Theramore. Here are thottbot maps for both NPCs.

Nissa Firestone: http://www.thottbot.com/?n=2353
Doctor VanHowzen: http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?n=7383

horde:
To begin this quest you need to strike up a conversation with Arnok who hangs out in Ogrimmar. He’ll then direct you to speak with Doctor Victor in the Arathi Highlands. Here are maps for both NPCs.
